Mr. Touichiro Nakajima, the founder of Kewpie Corporation, thought originally and registered Aohata as the trademark in 1918. He studied as a vocational practice student of the Department of agriculture and commerce in Europe and America in order to learn a technique of a can and selling in his youth. He propagated the tastiness of mayonnaise and orange marmalade. When he stayed in England at the beginning of Taisho period, he often went to watch boat races of Oxford and Cambridge, which were famous in the world. Then, both universities' flags, which were with only blue only color, made a strong impression on him, so he decided "Blue Flag", Aohata as the brand name.
