Famous People in Japan

Tsuji Jinsei

Date of Birth October 4, 1959
Place of Birth Tokyo

Tsuji Jinsei is a man of many abilities. He took up the guitar when he was in the sixth grade, and he formed some rock bands in his student days. After his band "ECHOES" was chosen as an excellent artist in an audition for SONY in 1982, they performed their songs mostly in a place with live music. In 1985, they debut with the song "Bad Morning". Jinsei was both a vocalist and a guitarist in the group, and he wrote the words and the music.

He was also active in a radio program "All Night Nippon". In 1989, his first novel "Pianissimo" was given the Subaru Literary Award. In 1997, he was given the " Akutagawa Prize" for "Kaikyo no Hikari". He started solo activity as a singer after "ECHOES" was dissolved inÅ@1989. Also he held poetry readings and published the newspaper called "Lost Child Club".

Now he is married to Minami Kaho who is an actress. He lives in New York separate from her and their baby. We can see him as a novelist more than as a singer. His novels tell us about loneliness and danger in a modern society, and we can feel the importance of communication through them. I like his sensibilities and it appeals to us strongly. I am sure that his novels will comfort worried people for a long time.
