Katori Shingo

Katori Shingo is a member of SMAP which is an "idol group." which sings and dances. There are six men in that group, but Mori Katsuyuki, a member of SMAP, retired in May, 1996. They are very popular with people of all ages.

SMAP was organized in 1988. Then, Shingo was only 11 years old. Their first concert was held at "Budoukan" in January 1, 1991, and their first CD was sold in January 1, 1992.

Shingo is the youngest in his group. He used to be the shortest, but now he grew into the tallest man in his group.

SMAP is different from former idols. They do not only sing but also appear frequently on variety shows. This has made them even more popular. Shingo takes part in five variety shows. Also, he appears in many dramas and commercials. Now, he is starring in his first drama, "Toumeiningen", "invisible men." Also, his new variety show is on the air now.

Shingo's hope him to become a bigger idol and to be even more active in the future.
