Chara started playing the piano when she was four years old. She had already composed some songs by the time she entered elementary school. Her teacher named her "Chara". She started playing the keyboard when she was a high school student.
She appeared in the film "PicNic" which was directed by Iwai Shunji. And she first met with Asano Tadanobu who is an actor. In 1994, she got married with him. In 1995, she gave birth to their baby and named her daughter Sumile.
In 1996, she appeared in Iwai's film "Swallowtail" again. She organized Yen Town Band not only in the film, but also in reality. It was produced by Kobayashi Takeshi. It released the first album "Montage".
Recently, not only does she play an active part in music, but also she is active in radio, CM, essay, fashion model and so on. Her lifestyle and her song are very popular among the young girls.
