Information about the Student Lists for Prof. Robb's Computer Classes

The student lists are an excellent way for you to 'talk' to other students around the world, to exchange ideas with them and improve your English at the same time.

To join the Student List Project, you first need to subscribe (加入す る) to the lists be sending a message to the main computer at LaTrobe University in Australia. You need to join the INTRO-SL first in order to introduce yourself. After you have done so, and read the introductions of some other people, you must set this list to "NOMAIL" and join one or more of the other lists as described below.

To join INTRO-SL, send an e-mail message to:

LISTSERV@LATROBE.EDU.AU

Copy & paste the address so that you don't make any typing mistakes!

You can leave the "Subject" of the message blank. Then in the body of the message say:

SUB INTRO-SL Taro Kohyama

(Of course, you need to write your OWN name, not "Taro Kohyama"!)

After you subscribe you will get detailed information. You can see a copy of this here any time that you want to read it, so you don't have to keep your own copy if you don't want to.

Be sure to read it and understand it before you start sending messages!

After you have received 10-20 introductory messages from other students, set INTRO-SL to "NOMAIL" and join one or more of the other lists by sending another message to <LISTSERV@LATROBE.EDU.AU>

For example:

Your grade for this project will be based on the number of messages that you send and the quality of the messages. To receive credit, submit the following as a document in "TO TEACHER" with the name like this: "46xxxx SL Project" (Your student number + 'SL Project)
