The leader of the Southern All Stars, Kuwata Keisuke entered Aoyama Gakuin University in 1974 and he played actively in a folk song circle there. He organized the Southern All Stars in 1975, a group of six. They made their debut with the song "Katte ni Shindobatto." He took charge of the words, the music, and vocals. His own way of the words caused a big hit and they became a popular group at once. In 1982, he married Hara Yuko who was a member of the group.
They made hit songs one after another, for example, "Itoshi no Ellie," "Minna no uta," "Namida no kiss," and "Anatadakeo." Their album "Kamakura" sold more than a million copies and Kuwata Keisuke's income was number one in the singer category that year. He even made a movie "Inamura Jehen." The movie was a love story and was a hit for a long time in Japan.
Recently, he performed in charity concert for AIDS with the group "Mr. Children." They were popular with young people both and, of course, that song "Kiseki no hoshi" sold well. Southern All Stars including Kuwata Keisuke will continue being popular with all generations.
