Sakamoto Kyu made his debut in show business in 1960. The next year he released "Ueo Muite Aruko," entitled, "Sukiyaki," which so became a million seller. "Sukiyaki" became the biggest overseas hit in Japanese pops.
He sang many songs which become popular among Japanese young man, for example,"Miagetegoran Sorano Hoshio" and " Shiawasenara Teotatako."
He was called "Kyu- Chan" for his sincere nature and his charming smile, but he lost his life in a plane crash in 1985.
Now many musicians, Japanese and foreigner still sing his songs.
