Hirofumi Ogawa is a good baseball player with both skill and power. He can play both the "hero" and as well as a "supporting player". In 1999, he hit a home run to win a losing game and also he bunted single hits. It impresses us that he is such a skillful player.

He joined the Prince Hotel Company which is a famous in the adult amateur baseball league. In 1988, he was selected as a team member for Seoul Olympics and Japanese team won the silver medal. Then he was drafted by the Orix Blue Wave as their second choice in 1989.

Since he was a high school student, he played second base. But when he became a professional baseball player, he changed to short stop. He was selected as the regular player from his very first year, and in his third year become their regular short stop. In 1991, he managed to participate in all official games and was selected for Japan's "best nine".

In 1994, it was first time for him that he get the batting average of rate .300. In 1995 and 1996, he helped his team to get the victory of a Pacific League. He was conscious for his fighting spirit and wonderful play. At that time he got the batting average of .357. Mr. Horiuchi, who is a pitching coach of the Yomiuri Giants, said to him that Mr. Ogawa is an amazing batter when he was in good condition.

He is a mood maker of the Orix Blue Wave. This year, they didn't win the pennant but he brought energetic power to Kobe and I hope he will win the game next year.
