Kume Hiroshi

Kume Hiroshi is famous as a newscaster of 'News Station' which is one of the most popular news programs in Japan. His comments about the news are known to be very frank and easy to understand, so the program is supported by a lot of people.

He graduated from Waseda University in 1963, and started to work at TBS as an announcer in 1967. Later he became the host of some popular TV programs, such as 'Ryouritengoku' and 'The Best Ten', and became famous. In 1975 he left the company and became a freelance-announcer.

As a freelance-announcer, he took charge of a lot of TV programs and improved his style of speaking. In 1985 he was selected as the main newscaster of 'News Station' because of his refined speech, and now he is still active in that program.
