Finger-Specific Interaction for Touch Interfaces

This research aims to improve the operability of the touch interfaces. For this purpose, I propose an interaction technique distinguishing fingers. Current touch interfaces detect finger touches as the same input. On the other hand, my technique can detect each finger and use a different input.D To realize this technique, I developed a prototype system and many applications that assumed actual usage scenarios. Interaction Technique for a Pen-based Interface Using Finger Motions

This research aims to improve the operability of the pen-based interfaces. To achieve this, I developed an interaction technique called Finger Action, which utilizes user's finger motions. In a paint tool with Finger Action, for instance, a user can change a line width depending on grip force. I developed a prototype system and applications, and explored the effectiveness of Finger Action. Detail is here



Kitchen of the Future -Kitchen Environment for Upbringing and Communication Between Parents and Children-

The purpose of this project is to create the future intelligent kitchen. A kitchen has two aspects. One is a place for cooking, the other is a place for upbringing and communication. In this project, we explore what kinds of the support are suitable for the kitchen for upbringing and communication. Kitchen of the Future -Development of input interfaces suitable for cooking activities-

The purpose of this project is to create the future intelligent kitchen. In the kitchen, people perform various cooking activities. Although supporting such activities by using computers is important, it is not desirable for them to use a mouse or keyboard while doing cooking activities. In this reaserch, thus, we developed new input interfaces suitable for cooking activities, and explored their effectiveness. Visualization Technique for Linked Changes in Exchange Rates Between Three Currencies

A line chart is mainly used to represent the change in exchange rate between two currencies. To figure out the trend of the exchange rate between two currencies, it is important to understand how the two currencies move in relation to another currency. We developed as a new visualization technique, called a linked triangle chart, for representing linked nature of exchange rate changes between three currencies. Detail is here

Pen-based Interface by Using Hand Motions in the Air

Existing pen-based interfaces can be operated while a pen tip touches on a display. However, when we use a pen, we move it not only on a paper but also in the air. Therefore, I conducted a research to apply hand motions in the air to interactions. By this research, I developed new interaction techniques for pen-based interface and contributed an improvement of the usability of pen-based interfaces. Detail is here

Smart Team Management System

In this research, we developed group project management system in the ubiquitous era, named "Smart Team Management System (STMS)". In STMS, we developed Resource Management System which utilizes team member's contexts e.g., his/her location, and Career Path Advisory. This research was conducted as one project of "Initiatives for Attractive education in graduate schools, Human Resource Development with practical IT skills in advanced Information Science program". Kitchen of the Future -Remort cooking support using salt sensor-

The purpose of this project is to create the future intelligent kitchen. As one research of this project, we developed a system which supports cooking in distant places. In this research, we tried to transmit taste which cannot be told by languages. As elements deciding taste, there are sweetness, saltiness, bitterness and so on. We focused on saltiness. Attendance Management System Using Java Application on Mobile Phone

The attendance management of the students in the university is performed with paper. However, paper-based management includes some problems, e.g., tallying takes much time, a teacher cannot figure out the status of attendance in real time and so on. In this research, I developed an attendance management system which utilizes mobile phone and QR code. I conducted this research when I was in Oomoto Laboratory, Kyoto Sangyo University.
