Greetings,

We're in the double digits! Welcome to Issue 10.1 of TESL-EJ. As always, we have an engaging and thought-provoking set of articles, columns, and reviews.

As you may be aware, the TOEFL^® Test is in the process of a dramatic change. For the first time, speaking is among the skills tested. Dean Papajohn addresses this issue in "Standard Setting for the Next Generation TOEFL Academic Speaking Test (TAST)." Roger Kenworthy also looks at the writing process in "Timed Versus At-Home Assessment Tests: Does Time Affect the Quality of Second Language Learners' Written Compositions?" Finally, Elizabeth Margaret Ellis looks at ESL/EFL instructors' experience with learning a second language and its effect on their teaching. In a related Forum, several non-native speaking teachers of English tackle the controversies over non-native English speaking teachers.
